Kerry McArdle

Executive Director

Before joining Literacy Action in 2017, Kerry served as Managing Director of Advancement at KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, a network of eight public charter schools serving Atlanta’s underserved communities.  Prior to KIPP, Kerry worked as Director of Leadership Development at Gwinnett County Public Schools through the Broad Residency in Urban Education. 

Kerry is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. She earned her master’s degree from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University in Marketing and Information Analysis. She also holds a certificate in Educational Leadership from The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems after a twelve-year corporate career at Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

Kate Boyer

Deputy Director

 A Georgia native, Kate earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia and a nonprofit management certificate. She has over ten years of nonprofit experience managing programs, donor relations and mission integration.  Kate serves as the organization’s Deputy Director overseeing the internal operations of Literacy Action to ensure the infrastructure supports organization and programmatic growth.

Julia Ames

Assistant Director of Finance

A New York native, Julia has worked at Literacy Action since 1982 and lives in Lithonia. She serves as the organization’s Assistant Finance Director, performing a variety of technical financial tasks and managing all finance personnel. She attended Hunter University and is a skilled bookkeeper.

Olivia Greene-Knight

Director of Operations

A native of Kentucky, Olivia Greene-Knight graduated from Agnes Scott College in 2010 where she studied history. She joined Literacy Action immediately following college, as the Administrative Assistant. Over the past seven years, Olivia has worked to move the mission forward by working in development and operations, where she now serves as the Director of Operations. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Administration with a certificate in nonprofit management from Villanova University.

Amanda Styles

Director of Information Systems

Amanda joined Literacy Action in November 2015. A 15-year veteran of the nonprofit sector, Amanda helps to streamline processes and use technology to enhance efficiency and communication. Amanda previously worked for Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She graduated from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She lives in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur with her wife, Megan, and daughter, Adeline.
