Providing programming and classes to prepare adult learners to achieve their next level of best.
Our mission is to build better futures for adults by teaching literacy, life, and work skills that empower them to reach their highest potential.
Literacy Action is a pipeline to employment, better wages, technical colleges, and the university system. We offer free classes to all levels of adult (ages 16 and over) learners working toward a certain functionality goal or a specific credential, like passing the GED exam, ESL and Citizenship classes. Real world context, health, digital and financial literacy are components of every class.
Literacy Action’s vision is to set the standard of excellence in the field of adult basic education and break the intergenerational cycle of low literacy and poverty.
Our E3 program provides holistic support with core educational and work readiness services, vocational training, a strong employment network, and the types of career ladders that promote economic stability.
Founded in a church basement, we are now the oldest, largest and leading adult basic education nonprofit in the Southeastern U.S.
Through the passion and the commitment of our leadership and board, we advance our mission to build better futures through literacy, life and work skills.
